Mar 12, 2007 Hurley In Hawaii, Day 11 Hurley in Hawaii, Day 11
Today we are scheduled to do our final demo of the tour at the skate park in Piaa, a small little hippie town on the beach of the north side of the island. We went back to the ditch first before the demo to try and get a couple more shots and the session just kept going. We had to break away with one of the vans to get things rolling at the demo as the rest of the crew kept skating the ditch. We also had to make a quick stop at the shop as well so we arrived at the demo fashionably late to a large crowd. Just as we pulled up to the park rain began to fall from the sky and we just about lost it. Fortunately it rains in Hawaii just about every day and it was just a small little squall that lasted only a few minutes. The park was pretty good as far as the bowl portion of the park and the street obstacles (or lack there of) consisted of one old fridge on its side which was pretty much hurting. Nonetheless, the boys ripped around the transition portion of the park linking together lines around the whole place. Justin Strubing and Kris Markovich skated the nice cement quarter and pretty much destroyed it with a bunch of good lip tricks and some big Ollies and grabs. Nilton Neves flowed around everywhere with style and had some amazing tricks. Nick Yamasato flew over from Oahu and looked at home in the big bowl with some big stylish airs and clean lines, and the rest of the crew cruised around the bowls before it was time to get the autograph session out of the way. The kids and folks were excited with the skating and once the boys started signing their autograph cards everyone lined up to get signatures and stickers from everyone. Once again the rain began to fall from the sky and our demo had quickly come to an end. We headed over to the local bar to have a beer and kick it with the shop guys. Another great day in Maui was winding down as we pondered what the next day would have in store for us. Check back tomorrow for another update from our Hawaiian tour here at 411vm.com
